It All Starts with You
Leadership, Growth & Finding Joy with Marc Nudelberg
Leadership coach, TEDx speaker and On the Ball CEO Marc Nudelberg has spent his career helping leaders, teams and organizations perform at their highest level. But when he joined me on The Paige Kornblue Show, our conversation went far beyond business.
We talked about navigating change, raising resilient families, finding joy in the middle of ambitious goals and why success begins long before anyone else notices.
One of the biggest takeaways came at the very end of our conversation.
"It all starts with you. Whatever is happening, whatever is going on, whatever scenario you're living in, whatever context you're living in, it all starts with you," said Nudelberg. "If we can take responsibility for ourselves and how we affect everything around us, it is guaranteed to make you successful."
That mindset carried through nearly every topic we discussed.
When the conversation turned to work-life balance, Nudelberg challenged one of the most common goals people chase.
"There's no such thing," said Nudelberg.
Instead of trying to divide life evenly, he focuses on priorities that shift with each season.
"You can only have one major priority. Then there's a second. Then there's a third," added Nudelberg.
For him, staying intentional also means creating meaningful moments at home. Every evening, his family gathers around the dinner table for a tradition they call ‘High, Low, Buffalo.’
"Everybody has to go around the table... what was your high point, your low point, and then the Buffalo is like a random thing or something that's just in your mind," said Nudelberg. "When you cultivate that practice for yourself, it makes maintaining whatever drive, whatever motivation, whatever consistency you're looking for, it makes it a little bit easier."
Before becoming a leadership coach and CEO of On the Ball, Nudelberg spent years coaching college football. While the setting has changed—from the sidelines to the boardroom—the lessons haven't.
Drawing on his experience coaching athletes and leaders through constant change, Nudelberg said one truth applies to everyone.
"The only thing you can count on is change," said Nudelberg. "There is something very, very good on the other side of that growth... but there is a time frame that is all uncomfortable, all challenging, all difficult, that you have to be willing to work through."
Whether you're leading a team, growing a business, raising a family or navigating your own next chapter, Nudelberg believes success begins with personal responsibility.
