Celebrate + Empower

This year, I’m bringing people I care about together for my birthday to support something that means a lot to me and I’d truly love for you to be part of it.

I’m hosting a birthday reception with heart to benefit Empower.

Empower is a national organization supporting children and young adults (up to age 24) who have experienced the loss of a parent…through mentorship, community, and meaningful events that remind them they are not alone. Right now, South Florida doesn’t have an active chapter.

But we can change that.

I lost my mom to cancer in 2018 and my dad to Alzheimer’s in 2020. I was a mom to a kindergartner and twin pre-schoolers at the time. I miss my mom and dad every single day and just can’t imagine the pain of losing your mom and dad as a child.

On this night, we will hear from voices from our own community who understand loss and what it means to move forward and more importantly, not feel alone in it.

Speakers include:

  • Logan Husband - an FAU football center who lost his father at age 5

  • Jerry Croke – a father of four navigating the recent loss of his wife, Detra, and what it looks like to find strength in community

  • Skye Dyer – Co-owner of Delray Beach boutique A Little Wyld and daughter of the late, world-renowned Wayne Dyer, sharing her perspective on mindfulness and healing.

  • Empower Founder, Cara Belvin, is coming into town for this to share the heart behind this work
