Boca Regional Leads New Effort on Menopause and Cancer Risk
Menopause is a universal transition for women, often accompanied by hormonal shifts, weight changes, and symptoms that can disrupt daily life. While hormone therapy can provide relief, long-term use has been associated with an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer — leaving many women searching for safer solutions.
On Friday, during the 2025 Go Pink Luncheon at The Boca Raton, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Baptist Health South Florida, announced a new initiative led by Dr. Louise Morrell, Chief Medical Executive of the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute. The effort will bring together national experts alongside physicians and scientists at Boca Raton Regional Hospital to research improved, safer approaches to menopause care.
The goal: to better understand hormonal changes and treatment options, provide clear guidance, and ultimately improve health outcomes for women navigating menopause.
This developing initiative represents a significant step toward answers many women have long awaited and the possibility of care that supports both symptom relief and long-term health.
