Restoring Hope at Place of Hope

When we started years ago, we asked ourselves, β€˜Who are the neediest people in our community that really need a hand up?’ -FOUNDING CEO CHARLES BENDER

Five campuses later, Place of Hope continues to respond and rescue

He was living in a shed.

Without money to pay for student housing, Hasan Dickinson had no place to go.

He says police officers found him in that small shed in Boca Raton… and they quickly got him help.

Some of that help came from Place of Hope.

Place of Hope is a state-licensed, faith-based children and families organization that offers housing and support services designed to end the cycles of abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty and human trafficking in Palm Beach County and along the Treasure Coast.

Hasan is just one of the many teenagers Place of Hope has helped rescue and one the organization continues to support. He recently received the Place of Hope Angel Moms Outstanding Youth of the Year Award. Dickinson is also a Kazma Family Education Endowment Scholarship Recipient.

The Angel Moms Brunch and Benefit, Hope in Bloom, was held April 25th at Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club in Boca Raton to celebrate volunteers and raise funds for Place of Hope residents and projects.

β€œNearly ten years ago we launched this amazing volunteer vehicle to help create awareness for the expansion of Place of Hope into southern Palm Beach County. The extraordinary women in this community have rallied around our efforts at Place of Hope at the Leighan and David Rinker Campus and their influence and handprints are within every cottage and building,” said Lisa McDulin, Director of Advancement.

Angel Moms serve as ambassadors for Place of Hope, working to further the organization’s mission of providing hope and healing.

Amy Kazma received the Leigh Roberts Rinker Angel of Hope Award at this year’s luncheon for her continued support and dedication to the organization.

Volunteer of the Year Awards were also given out to three additional Angel Moms. Bonnie Hildebrand received the Service Award, Wendy Sadusky received the Mission Support Award and I proudly received the Advocacy and Awareness Award. A true honor for us all!

Place of Hope resident Shyra Johnson served as the event’s keynote speaker. You can learn more about her story as well as Place of Hope Founding CEO Charles Bender’s message and how the organization started in Episode 24 of The Paige Kornblue Show.
